Today we learned about Cinquains and students were to create 4 of these five-lined unrhymed poems (following the structure explained in the packet.  Today we also learned about Limericks.  These fun, five-line poems are almost musical in nature and have a very distinct rhythm and rhyme pattern.  Students were to write 3 original limericks.  Be sure to carefully re-read the explanation in the packet as you construct your own and consult it as needed.  Here is a classic example of limerick rhythm and rhyme:

Hickory-dickory dock,

The mouse ran up the clock.

      The clock struck ten,

       He ran home again,

Hickory-dickory dock.

HW: Finish class work – using the packet worksheets, create 4 orignal cinquains and 3 original limericks.

P.S. – Scroll down to Bonus #4 and give it a shot!! Seriously! Don’t you want extra credit?!?!
