As you know, we are begining our last novel study of the year on The Pigman, by Paul Zindel. Each class period students will be using one of the books from our numbered class set of novels. Since students will not have a “take home” book, several things will become very important: Students will need to pay close attention and follow along as we read; Students will need to use class time wisely so they can utilize their time with the book as much as possible to complete their study guides correctly; Study guide completion will be very important as the study guide will be each student’s primary resource (along w/ vocab sheets) when studying for quizzes and tests.
If you would like to provide your child with a personal copy of the book for extra reinforcement, this is permissable, but it not necessary. Students who are absent for any of the last 24 days of school should (of course) check the blog the evening of the absence, but also see me immediately upon return so I can give them one of the “temporary take-home” books. If a student knows ahead of time they will be absent, please have them see me ahead of time. It is very important (especially in light of the short time left) that students not get behind in the reading and studyguidle completion! Please remind your child that each of the remaining assignments is essential for them to either maintain or improve their grade in Reading this year!
Thank you so much for your continued support!
