Quatrains & Cinquains!  (Continuing in the poetry packet) Today we learned about quatrains and some of the different rhyme patterns they can have (AABB, ABAB, ABCB, ABBA) and practiced these rhyme patterns by writing 4 quatrains.  Then we learned about the syllables and structure of the simple five-line poem, cinquain.  As indicated on the sheet in our packet, we created 6 new cinquains.

HW: Finish Quatrains (4) and Cinquains (6).   (And try the Blog Bonus #3, if you want!  It’s not as hard as you might think!)

The following poem is an example of a AABB Quatrain, originated by Omar Khayyam.
